Hair Transplant Surgeon New York
Dr. Blake Bloxham
Dr. Bloxham has known he wanted to be a hair restoration physician since before even attending medical school! While completing his pre-medical studies at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) his grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis was very good, but she was likely going to need to undergo chemotherapy.
Her oncologist warned her that this could potentially involve some hair loss. She did not think this was “important enough” to discuss with her cancer doctor, but she was still very concerned about the psychological impact of losing her hair and was determined to try and do something about it. So, she turned to Dr Bloxham (just “Blake” at the time) and asked what he knew about hair loss and hair restoration.
Since most of his studies at the time involved Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, he admitted that he knew very little; however, he was determined to do some research and see what he could figure out. In doing so, Dr Bloxham became fascinated with everything “hair.” The science behind stem cell activity in hair follicles; the emerging and challenging field of new hair loss treatments; the psychology of hair loss; and, in particular, hair transplant surgery. Not only was he able to find some helpful tips for his grandmother (Who underwent successful treatment and is doing just fine today!), but he also refined his career goals: he wanted to be a hair restoration physician.
Dr Bloxham completed his pre-medical studies with honors and decided to go to medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri. He graduated from medical school with Sigma, Sigma, Phi honors and completed his general post-graduate training at Geisinger Medical Center (formally Penn State Geisinger and now the teaching hospital for the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine). Dr Bloxham finished his training by undergoing a preceptorship in hair transplant surgery with Dr. Alan Feller at Feller Medical (New York), and then went on to formally partner with Dr. Feller in a new venture: Feller & Bloxham Medical. Dr. Bloxham has served as the medical/surgical director of Feller & Bloxham Medical since 2015, where he has performed thousands of successful hair transplant procedures on patients from NYC, the tri-state area, and the rest of the world. Dr. Bloxham continues to research new hair restoration therapies as well and is currently one of the first doctors in the world studying verteporfin — an anti-scarring and regenerative medication — in hair restoration procedures. Dr. Bloxham offers in-person and online consultations through his website (fellermedical.com); he has offices/partnerships in NY, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Florida, Texas, London, and St. Louis, Missouri, and personally performs procedures in New York and St. Louis. When not focused on hair, Dr. Bloxham enjoys distance running, playing musical instruments, and spending time with his wife (a board certified Pediatrician) and his two children.
